About the event
We hunt every Wednesday and Saturday at various locations around the New Hampshire seacoast and southern Maine (click here for a list of our territories). Our hounds move off promptly at 10 am, so we ask riders to be mounted and ready by 9:45am. Our hunts last approximately 2 hours and are always followed by an abundant tea (aka lunch!) provided by our members.
We offer three fields: First Field follows directly behind and keeps pace with the hounds. Riders are expected to take all jumps taken by the Master of the field. Second Field follows behind First Field. Riders are invited to jump but allowed to gap (or go around) the jumps. Hilltop Field is a more relaxed ride with walk, trot, and some canter, but no gallops and no jumping. All fields meet up often during the hunt for checks during which riders may move to different fields after informing their current field master, and for stirrup cup for a refreshment break.
Wentworth Hunt is a very inviting and friendly hunt and we love to have guests! As with all riding sports, there are rules we follow while fox hunting to ensure the safety of the riders and hounds, and to show respect for our land owners and staff. Please check out the points of etiquette for fox hunting, as well as our hunt locations and dates, on our fixture card. If you would like to join us, please contact our hunt secretary at Secretary@wentworthhunt.org. And check us out on Facebook!
